This article is intended to give a gist of distribution of seats in those Maharashtra medical colleges admitting students on basis of merit in MHT-CET exam. For courses other than MBBS and BDS, please check the brochure.
- 15% seats of the college are reserved from AIPMT candidates
- Remaining 85% seats are available for MHT-CET candidates.
- 70% of the 85% seats are reserved for candidates from the region(ROM/Marathwada/Vidharbha) in which the college is located.
- Remaining 30% of the seats are reserved for candidates from regions other than that of the medical college.
- Both 70 and 30% are then divided in approx 50% for common(open) category and the remaining 50% is divided among Constitutionally reserved categories like SC, ST, OBC, NT,VJ, etc.
- Apart from these constitutionally reservations special reservations such as Govt. of India(GOI), HA, MKB, Def, etc. are applied.
The above scheme may vary on yearly basis. For latest and accurate information, please refer the MHT-CET Health Science brochure.

This is a general outline of the admission process to health science courses after MHT-CET.
- Declaration of final merit lists: Provisional merit lists are declared within 45 days of the MHT-CET exam. After settlement of any requests for verification of marks, the final merit list is declared, usually within a week from declaration of provisional merit list.
- Issue of mock-copy of preference form and preference information brochure: During the next week, DMER issues notification in the press and website for filling up of preference forms. Students are requested to come at divisional centers with their original mark-sheet. A mock-copy of the preference form along with a preference information brochure is given to them. The preference information brochure contains information on important dates, preference form-filling instructions, declaration of selection round results, payment of fees, confirmation/cancellation of admission, service bond, etc.
- Actual submission of preferences: SML-wise, batches of candidates are called to submit their preferences for courses and colleges.
- Seat allocation rounds: After preferences of all students are collected and analyzed by the system, “seat allocation” lists(rounds) are declared.
- Confirmation of admission: The candidate should contact the office of medical college where his seat has been allocated and confirm the admission by completing the formalities before due date.
Important to note:
If a student who is allocated a seat in the first selection round does not confirm his admission, the student will not be considered for next selction rounds, thus barring the student completely from the admission process. Thus, if a student gets admission in a less-preferred college, he must confirm the admission so that he will be considered for the next rounds for betterment.
